Raised in an isolated rural environment, and ever the intrepid outlier, Marcus began tying himself (auto-bondage) and others with various and sundry kinds of cordage at a scandalously inappropriate age, in alarmingly risky ways, gaining hard-knock wisdom in the process. It is a miracle that he and his childhood playmates reached adolescence-- which is when (fueled by boners and dripping lust) things got really sketchy, and wonderfully rewarding...

Reaching adulthood in the late 1980's, and blessed with wonderfully communicative partners, he began to use rope as his primary medium for bondage. Blissfully unaware of the BDSM community and its resources, and without any significant bondage imagery (aside from the horrible bondage images he'd seen on TV where the subject could easily escape!) he explored intricate, inescapable, sensual, connective tying, learning to rely on the feedback from his partners and sensations from his own bottoming experiences to guide the structure of the ties and the ways in which rope could be applied to the body to serve a myriad of intentions.

Blessed be Rope Deity for the birth of the internet, for it was then that he realized that he was not alone. In the Mid 90's he began tentatively exploring the resources of the BDSM community and absorbing a wealth of bondage and fetish imagery. He remembers vividly seeing dial-up internet slowly render bondage images from Itoh Seiu and Nobuyoshi Araki thinking that someone had hacked his own imagination...

His tying is informed by active study as both a rope top and and as a rope bottom, and by gleaning techniques from the best (and worst) ropers available. Marcuslikesit is much more interested in how rope feels and how it makes people feel than how rope looks. He has a disdain for orthodoxies and dogmas believing that there are many suitable paths to any goal. He believes firmly that if the top and bottom both enjoy the tying and nobody gets hurt then it is tying at an expert level.*
